The most innovative people I have worked with were not the idealistic, hyper-motivated young people we tend to think of when we think of "innovators". They were people with a deep understanding of what we've done combined with a passion for shaping what we might do. They saw themselves not as warriors at the vanguard of something new, but as a bridge between the enduring and the emerging. Find them. You need them.
